PASSIVE
VOICE
ACTIVE/PASSIVE VOICE. In most English sentence with an action verb, the
subject performs the action denoted by the verb. These examplesshow that the subject is doing the verb’s action. Because the
subject does or “acts upon” the verb in such sentences, the sentences are
said to be in the active voice.
SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
1.1. Active : Indonesia needs many powerful young men.
Passive : Many powerful young men
needed by Indonesia.
22.. Active : She posts the story every day.
Passive : The story is posted
every day by her.
33.. Active : He teacher teaches English once a week.
Passive : English is teach by
the teacher once a week.
4.4. Active : We do exercises every day.
Passive : Our exercises is done
every day.
55.. Active : The professors plant the rice at the
top of the building.
Passive : The rice was planted
by the professors at the top of the building.
SIMPLE PAST TENSE
1. 1. Active : The students created the blogs yesterday.
Passive : The blogs was created by the students yesterday.
2.2. Active : The principal told the students to be good
students.
Passive : Students are told by the principals to be god students.
33.. Active : Many singers sang the song
Passive : The song was sang by many singers.
44.. Active : She typed the letter last night.
Passive : The letter was typed last night by her.
5.5. Active : We left the gate open.
Passive : The gate was left open by us.
